THE FLORIDA SOCIETY OF NEONATOLOGISTS, INC.

ANNUAL PRESIDENT’S LETTER

It is with great pride that I write to the membership of our Society the Annual President’s Report.

This past year, my first year as FSN President, was an exciting and interesting one.  I decided to hold Town Hall Meetings throughout the year to meet our colleagues and members.  My first meeting was held in September 2008 in Jacksonville at Baptist Hospital during one of their monthly Neonatology Division Meetings.   I was able to introduce myself as the new President and discuss issues pertinent to our profession.  I received feedback from those present which will certainly guide my thinking as to where we should be heading as a Society.  The second Town Hall Meeting took place March 2008 in Tampa and was sponsored by Abbott Nutritionals.  At this meeting, we had some very constructive discussions on various topics such as Synagis Administration, Board Recertification, etc.

I would like to continue with the Town Hall Meetings for the remainder of my term of office.  Our next meeting will be in Ft. Lauderdale to reach our members in the South Florida area.  Before my term is over, I hope to see many of you at these meetings.  Please plan to attend and let’s share our experiences, concerns and camaraderie.

On May 23rd, we will have our  Florida Society of Neonatologists, Inc. Annual Meeting at Marco Island in conjunction with the Southeastern Association of Neonatologists Meeting.  Our guest speaker for the Luncheon will be Dr. Gil Martin, a prominent Neonatologist and well-known expert on CPT coding.  Following the Luncheon / lecture, we will commence with our Annual Business Meeting.

I look forward to seeing as many of you as possible at this event.  It is my hope that those of you who attend will take in the full conference and the wonderful sunshine that we should have at Marco Island.  Please bring along your ideas about how the Florida Society of Neonatolgists can better represent the needs of your practice and better serve the interest of all babies born in Florida.

Sincerely,

 Ernesto Valdes, M.D., President
