Items for Discussion:
1. Location for FSN Annual Meeting in 2001.
After some discussion about potential meeting sites, it was decided to holour next Annual Meeting at the Doral in Miami in conjunction with the FMA meeting 9/21 9/23. Dr. Kairalla will arrange with the FMA a meeting time for the FSN. A luncheon rather than a dinner is being considered. This will depend on the FMA schedule.
It was also agreed to have a meeting of the FSN Board of Directors on the afternoon of May 18th in Marco Island in conjunction with the Southeastern Association of Neonatologists Meeting. Details about this meeting will be discussed in our next Board Teleconference in April.
Dr. Duara suggested that they needed to complete the herpes practice guidelines or table them for now. Item was tabled.
4. Level II & III Standards and NICU Outcomes Data Collection Form.
Dr. Curan has been unable to get ACHA and the RPICC centers to adopt the FSN data collection format. The Data collection forms are asking for different information than that currently submitted to AHCA by RPICC centers. A copy of the RPICC center format was sent to AHCA for use in the non-RPICC centers. Dr. Duara will send this form to everyone.
Dr. Duara participated in a conference call regarding Pediatric and Neonatal Standards on Jan 10th. The Peds standards will lead. They are looking at OB standards now. OB is coming up with documents now. Dr. McCarthy is developing standards for level I, II & III nurseries as well as ECMO and cardiac surgery for Neos. How this will impact CON is not known at this time. Dr. McCarthy is the advisor to AHCA and her panel consists of Debbie, Fred, Rick, Shanaz, John & R. Bucciarelli. Dr. McCarthy will function as our liason to ACHA, and will keep us updated on the progress of this issue.
5. FMA Subspecialty Society Section
FSN is a member of the FMA subspecialty society section, and Dr. Duara will continue to represent FSN as our liaison to the FMA. It was agreed that we should create a link from our web site to the web sites of the FMA and the Florida Pediatric Society.
6. Dr. Kairalla raised to items of new business for consideration:
One was compensation for Faye Long, Executive Director for the work she is doing for the Society. It was suggested that $100.00 per month for this be put into the budget. Item approved by consensus.
Two is an offer from the Sheridan Group to co-sponsor the Journal Club project and assume the responsibility of printing and mailing. Dr. Hudak suggested the mailing stay with Faye so some control can be maintained. Item approved by consensus
7. Board Members and Committee Chairmen.
All executive committee members agreed to continue with their participation.
Dr. Hudak will continue as chairman of the Membership Committee and our Bylaws and Constitution Committee.
Dr. Stern will continue as chairman of our Education Committee.
Dr. McCarthy will be asked to continue as our liaison with ACHA.
Dr. Duara will be our liaison with FMA on legislative issues.
Dr. Chandler will be asked to report to the Society on current issues with the AAP.
Dr. Bucciarelli will be asked to act as our liaison with the FPS.
