The Florida Society of
Neonatologists is a professional organization incorporated in 1985. Our membership
consists of over 100 practicing neonatologists in the state.
TheFlorida Society of Neonatologists
holds as its purpose advocacy for neonatal and perinatal care in the State of Florida as
well as on a national level. The doctors who make up our membership strive to promote
public health and ensure high standards in Neonatal Medicine. We believe by our membership
will ultimately result in the best outcomes for neonates in Florida through a networking
of information including medical education, ethical concerns and consensus ideas about
patient managment.
Among the stated purposes of the Florida Society of
Neonatologists are:
To promote the growth and development of a neonatal
health care system in Florida with major emphasis being placed on promoting, developing,
implementing and coordinating a health care delivery system to effect a reduction in
perinatal and infant morbidity and mortality in the State of Florida.
To afford ample opportunities to its members to
associate and exchange ideas and developments regarding their common neonatal medical
practice.
To promote by example and conduct proper professional
ethics and the prudent and reasonable growth of a neonatal health care system in the State
of Florida.
To cooperate with all others who are endeavoring to
carry out in good faith the promotion of a neonatal health care system in the State of
Florida for the major purpose of reducing infant morbidity and mortality.
To provide an entity for the association of persons
having some common interest in neonatal medicine, and to further promote such common
neonatal health care interest and not to engage in a regular business of a kind ordinarily
carried on for profit, with no part of the net earnings of the corporation inuring to the
benefit of any member, director or officer.
